C++

Zero-cost abstractions and full control over memory.

Paradigm
Multi-paradigm, OOP, generic
Typing
Static, strong-ish
Memory
Manual / RAII, no GC
Runs
Native machine code (AOT)
Concurrency
Threads, atomics, coroutines (C++20)

Performance

How C++ runs, and what that means in practice.

Execution model

Compiled ahead of time to native code with aggressive optimisation (GCC, Clang, MSVC).

Memory

No garbage collector. Deterministic destruction through RAII; you control allocation layout.

Concurrency

std::thread, std::jthread, atomics, mutexes, C++20 coroutines; parallel algorithms via execution policies.

In practice

Usually at or near the top of CPU-bound benchmarks. The cost is development time and memory-safety risk.
